The Borno State Government has announced an immediate 24-hour curfew across the state following a tragic bombing incident at Kawori Market in Konduga on Wednesday night. The explosion, suspected to be carried out by a Boko Haram suicide bomber, resulted in 16 deaths and critical injuries to several others.
According to a press release by Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the curfew was imposed after Governor Babagana Zulum consulted with top security officials. The measure aims to restore law and order and ensure public safety.
The statement read, “In view of the constitutional mandate of the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security and law enforcement agencies toward the preservation of law and order in the state, a 24-hour curfew has been declared with immediate effect.”
Residents have been urged to stay calm and adhere to the curfew. The government will provide further updates as the situation develops.
