Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff, has appealed for strengthening the relationship between the South African National Defence Force and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to tackle the various security issues plaguing Africa.

Musa made the call while paying Gen. Rudzani Maphwanya, the head of the South African National Defense Force, an official visit in Pretoria, South Africa.

This was said in a statement made on Tuesday in Abuja by Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, acting Director of Defense Information.

The CDS stated that while the summit was hailed as a solution to all of the continent’s problems, cooperation and the strengthening of bilateral relations were also critical.

He claimed that different strategies to solve regional security issues were the main focus of their private meeting with their South African counterpart.

He said that to improve the continent, closer linkages and the sharing of knowledge between the two nations were taken into consideration.

Gusau claimed that during the visit, the head of Nigeria’s defense was also shown respect by receiving Cannon Gun Salutes.

“During the meeting, the Chief of SANDF highlighted the significance of the meeting between the two largest economies and military powers on the African continent.

“Present at the meeting were the SANDF Chiefs of Intelligence, Policy and Plans, International Affairs and Joint Operations amongst other departmental chiefs of the SANDF,” he said.
