Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe has been named France’s Player of the Year for the fifth year in a row, capping off an impressive season with 44 goals in all competitions. The 25-year-old received the award at the UNFP Trophies Gala in Paris, as he prepares to bid farewell to PSG after seven seasons.
Mbappe’s exceptional performance earned him the prize, voted for by his fellow players, despite stiff competition from teammates Ousmane Dembele and Gianluigi Donnarumma, as well as Pierre Lees-Melou, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Edon Zhegrova.
The France captain recently confirmed his departure from PSG when his contract expires, with Real Madrid rumored to be his next destination. Mbappe played his final home game for PSG on Sunday, scoring in a surprise 3-1 defeat against Toulouse.
With two Ligue 1 games remaining and the French Cup final against Lyon on May 25, Mbappe’s impressive season continues. He has scored 27 goals in Ligue 1, eight more than the next best marksman, Jonathan David.
PSG’s dominance was reflected in other awards, with Warren Zaire-Emery named Young Player of the Season and Gianluigi Donnarumma the Best Goalkeeper. Eric Roy of Brest was named Coach of the Year, leading his team to European qualification for the first time in their history.
