The illicit operations of a manufacturer of counterfeit cosmetics at the Balogun Trade Fair Gate, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State, have been discovered by the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
On Monday, NAFDAC made this announcement on its X account. Pasco Global Limited is owned by Mr. Pius Effiong Eyoh, a bogus cosmetics maker, according to the agency.
According to the report, Eyoh was detained for producing, packing, selling, and distributing a variety of inferior and fake cosmetic items.
“These included items like skin balance, perfect knuckle, organic peel therapy, and golden face triple action concentrated perfect skin.
“Eyoh was caught in the act of processing and packaging these cosmetic products with false labels bearing French inscriptions and a Cameroonian address.
“NAFDAC’s intervention led to the sealing of the illegal manufacturing premises, Eyoh’s arrest, and the scheduling of his substandard products for destruction,” it noted.
Agents from the agency conducted raids on well-known stores in Abuja last Thursday, including Sahad Stores and H-Medix in Wuse 2 and Gwarinpa, where they found fake goods.
The enforcement team also confiscated fake medications and cosmetics from marketplaces in Garki, Wuse, Utako, Kugbo, Nyanya, and Mararaba.
Throughout the operation, phony medications were taken out of Utako market and counterfeit cosmetics were found and confiscated at Sahad Stores, H-Medix, and other markets.
“Counterfeit Nivea products, cosmetics, Jik bleach, Harpic toilet cleaner, and Airwick room freshener were all confiscated. The total value of the seized goods amounted to ₦50 million, with fake Nivea products alone valued at ₦45 million,” it said.
