Michael Chidozie, a 26-year-old Nigerian bodybuilder living in the US, passes away 18 days after being shot several times by his wife Keaiirra Shavoiyae on March 21 after a fight.

Despite being kept on life support, Chidozie died on April 8 from complications following a severe spinal injury, according to the Daily Mail.

According to reports, Chidozie’s wife shot him four times in front of their kids after a fight inside their Houston residence.

The Daily Mail adds that Chidozie was taken to Ben Taub Hospital after police discovered him suffering from gunshot wounds and his wife franticly clutching their two children, who are two and three years old.

According to court records, he was shot twice in the torso, once in the arm, and once in the chest, according to Houston media station ABC13.

It further stated that following the shooting, Keaiirra, 28, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; her charges have not been enhanced since his passing.

She claimed to have shot Chidozie in self-defense after their dispute, according to investigators, fearing for her life when he followed her into their bedroom. She then pulled out a revolver and shot him.

According to additional information from ABC13, Keaiirra was freed on bond and will next appear in court on May 23.

A GoFundMe page has been established to assist Chidozie’s family with the costs of returning his remains to Nigeria for burial, and they are currently working to gather $70,000 to cover these costs.
