Nigeria’s oldest Catholic priest, Thomas Oleghe, has passed away at the remarkable age of 104.
In a statement released by Gabriel Dunia, the Bishop of Auchi, it was announced that Oleghe breathed his last at about 2:30 am on Sunday. Plans have been made to lay him to rest on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
The statement reads: “With profound gratitude to God for a life of purpose and dedication, I announce the passing of Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas Oleghe, who until today was the oldest Catholic priest in Nigeria. He departed this life at around 2:30 am on November 24, 2024.
“He served in the Diocese of Auchi and passed away at the age of 104. May his gentle and loving soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
The statement further revealed that his funeral will take place on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
