I spent three-and-half years in my mother’s womb, Former Gov Amosun

On Sunday, former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun shared that his late mother carried him in her womb for an unusual three-and-a-half years, describing his birth as a miraculous event. Amosun revealed that many doubted he was human at birth due to the extended pregnancy.

He shared this story during the 25th remembrance prayer for his mother, Rafatu Sanusi-Amosun, held at their family residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State. She passed away on October 27, 1999. At the ceremony, Amosun highlighted the significance of honoring one’s parents, a value supported by both the Quran and the Bible.

Amosun stated, “Praying for our departed parents is the greatest gift we can offer them. Marking this 25-year milestone, we decided to organize a gathering to seek Allah’s forgiveness on her behalf.”

Amosun recounted that his father, who wasn’t present at the time of his birth, was so concerned that he even prepared to burn the body if the birth went wrong. His father named him ‘Duro-o-rike,’ which translates to ‘Stay and be given the best care.’

Describing the mysterious nature of his mother’s pregnancy, which appeared and disappeared over time, Amosun added, “When I was finally born, people were in disbelief, with many running away, yet here I am today.”

His elder brother, Abidoye Amosun, confirmed the account, mentioning that their father sent a traditional naming gift three days before the ceremony, including the names of the newborn.

Amosun used the occasion to reflect on the fleeting nature of life, urging prayers for his mother and all departed souls. The remembrance event attracted Islamic leaders from Egbaland and other regions, as well as former aides and family members.

    The Dangers of GHB

    The Dangers of GHB

Gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) is a central nervous system depressant that has gained attention for its potential
misuse in recreational settings. Often marketed as a “party drug,” GHB can have severe health consequences, making it crucial to understand its risks and dangers.

    What is GHB?

GHB is a naturally occurring neurotransmitter that plays a role in the regulation of sleep and mood.
However, when used recreationally for its euphoric effects,
it can lead to dangerous side effects. While legal status varies by country, the
potential for misuse remains significant due to its potent impact on the central nervous system.

    The Effects of GHB

GHB produces feelings of relaxation and euphoria, but these
effects can quickly turn dangerous. High doses can cause respiratory depression, sedation, and drowsiness.
The drug’s depressant nature means it can interact poorly with other substances like alcohol, increasing the risk of overdose.

    Overdose Symptoms

Symptoms of GHB overdose include severe drowsiness, confusion, difficulty breathing, and loss of consciousness.

These signs are often accompanied by nausea, vomiting,
and muscle twitching. In severe cases, respiratory arrest
can occur, leading to life-threatening situations.

    Preventing Harm

While GHB use can be appealing for its euphoric effects,
the risks far outweigh the potential benefits. Avoid mixing GHB with alcohol or other depressant drugs.
Education and awareness campaigns are vital in preventing recreational misuse and reducing associated health hazards.

    Seeking Treatment

If you or someone you know is struggling with GHB
abuse, professional help is available. Medical detox programs can manage withdrawal symptoms safely, while therapy can address underlying
issues contributing to substance abuse. Resources and support
systems are in place to aid recovery and promote a healthier lifestyle.

    Conclusion

GHB’s dangers are not to be taken lightly. Its potential for misuse can lead to severe health complications, including overdose and long-term
neurological damage. If you or someone you know is misusing GHB, seeking help from a healthcare professional is essential.
Remember, recovery is possible with the right
    support and resources.
