National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has expressed confidence that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will emerge victorious in Bayelsa State, the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large in the 2027 general elections.
Dickson made the prediction during a visit to his hometown, Toru-Orua, in Bayelsa State, alongside Obi and other leaders of the NDC.
The former Bayelsa State governor also criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the ruling party of failing to deliver meaningful development to the state and the wider Niger Delta region, particularly in the areas of roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Dickson boasted that the APC had never defeated him at the polls in Bayelsa, claiming that he had remained a major obstacle to the party’s political success in the state since 2015.
He further accused Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, of handing the state over to the APC following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Dickson said the development had turned him and some of his political associates into opposition figures within an administration they helped establish.
Despite their political differences, the senator described Diri as his brother and compatriot, stressing that their disagreement was over the direction of governance in the state rather than a personal dispute.
Dickson also urged his supporters and residents of Bayelsa to remain peaceful while mobilising support for the NDC ahead of the 2027 elections.
He called on party members to support Obi and other NDC candidates, expressing confidence that the party would secure victory at the polls.
