Joseph Danjuma has stepped down as the Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Nasarawa State, blaming his exit on the inability to effectively discharge his responsibilities as the party’s spokesperson.
After leaving the NDC, Danjuma announced his backing for Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, a former Inspector-General of Police contesting the Nasarawa governorship election on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a letter dated Tuesday and sent to the NDC state chairman, Danjuma explained that his decision was driven by his confidence in Adamu’s leadership capacity and his ability to steer the state towards progress.
He also confirmed his immediate departure from both the party and his position, stating that he would now work with Adamu’s campaign.
Danjuma wrote, “I wish to humbly resign my membership and position as the Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Nasarawa State Chapter, with immediate effect.
“My decision follows the lack of opportunity to perform my role as the spokesperson of the party in the state.
“With this development, I hereby fully join the campaign train of Ex-IGP Adamu. Thank you.”
Danjuma, a media practitioner with experience across print and broadcast journalism, previously served as Chief Press Secretary to former Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Damishi Luka Barau.
