ADC Challenges APC in Jigawa, Targets Complete Takeover in 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State has expressed confidence that it can defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and form the next government of the state in the 2027 general elections.

The ADC State Chairman, Dr Sani Muhammad Gumel, made the declaration while speaking with journalists, insisting that the APC’s control of the state government would not prevent the opposition party from winning at the polls.

Gumel said the political landscape in Jigawa was gradually changing, with the ADC gaining support among different groups of voters across the state.

According to him, the party is strengthening its grassroots structures and engaging political stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.

The ADC is targeting a sweeping victory across Jigawa, including all three senatorial districts, 11 House of Representatives constituencies and 31 State House of Assembly seats.

Gumel argued that incumbency does not automatically guarantee electoral victory, saying voters would ultimately judge the APC based on its performance in government.

He said the ADC was positioning itself as a credible alternative focused on accountability, transparency, economic growth and improved welfare for citizens.

The party chairman also claimed that politicians from different parties were joining the ADC as part of efforts to build a broad opposition platform capable of challenging the APC in 2027.

He urged ADC members and supporters to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation, while calling on women and young people to participate actively in the electoral process.

Gumel maintained that with credible candidates and strong grassroots support, the ADC was optimistic about taking control of Jigawa State in 2027.

The party says it will unveil more details of its programmes and electoral strategy as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
