Dino Melaye Names 3 PDP Chieftains He Accuses of Undermining Party for Tinubu

Former Senator Dino Melaye has accused three former officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of allegedly compromising the opposition party and paving the way for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Melaye made the allegation during an interview on the Kaa Truths podcast, where he named former PDP acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu and former National Organising Secretary Umar Bature.

According to the former lawmaker, the three officials were responsible for what he described as the initial decline of the PDP before FCT Minister Nyesom Wike later became involved in the party’s internal crisis.

Melaye alleged that the PDP had effectively been handed over to Tinubu before Wike moved in to further weaken the party.

The former senator’s comments come amid continuing disagreements over the leadership crisis that has affected the PDP and its position as Nigeria’s major opposition party.

Wike, a former Rivers State governor, has remained a central figure in the PDP’s internal disputes, particularly following his disagreements with the party’s leadership and its 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Melaye, who is now associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), did not present documentary evidence during the interview to substantiate his allegations against the three former PDP officials.

The fresh accusations add to the growing political debate over the future of the PDP as opposition parties continue to reposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
