At least 13 captives reportedly died during nearly six months in captivity following the February 3 attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The development was revealed by some of the victims who were among 176 women and children abducted during the attack and recently regained their freedom.
According to the rescued victims, 12 children are still being held by the terrorists, raising fresh concerns over the security situation and the fate of those yet to return home.
The February attack reportedly involved suspected Boko Haram-linked extremists who invaded the communities and abducted residents. The victims spent several months in captivity before their release was announced by the Kwara State Government on August 5.
The latest revelation has renewed calls for stronger security measures in vulnerable communities across the state and intensified efforts to locate and rescue those still in captivity.
The development also puts renewed pressure on security agencies and government authorities to sustain counterterrorism operations and prevent further attacks on rural communities.
The Kwara State Government had earlier expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies following the release of the abducted victims
