A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Adamu Yahaya, popularly known as Adam Fakai, has announced his decision to withdraw his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yahaya, who had been a strong supporter of the Tinubu administration, explained that his decision was influenced by what he described as a lack of recognition and inclusion from key figures within the party.
The APC chieftain stated that he would no longer participate in activities aimed at promoting the policies, achievements and programmes of the federal government under President Tinubu.
According to Fakai, his decision followed years of personal commitment during which he dedicated his resources, time and efforts to creating awareness about the administration’s projects and initiatives across different parts of the country.
He explained that his support for the president was based on his confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and his belief that the administration was committed to improving the lives of Nigerians.
Fakai disclosed that for over two years, he had personally financed efforts to showcase government projects, travelling to different locations and using social media platforms to highlight developments carried out by the federal government.
He noted that he promoted the administration’s achievements in both northern and southern parts of Nigeria because he believed the projects deserved public attention and recognition.
The APC figure, however, expressed disappointment over what he described as inadequate appreciation from party stakeholders despite his contributions.
He suggested that his efforts might have received more attention if he had originated from another part of the country, adding that the situation contributed to his decision to step away from further advocacy for the administration.
Fakai maintained that his withdrawal was not due to a change in his personal beliefs about national development but was a result of his concerns over being overlooked by those within the party structure.
While announcing the end of his support activities, he thanked friends, supporters and well-wishers who stood by him through encouragement, prayers and words of motivation.
Before his recent decision, Fakai had gained public attention on social media for documenting various federal government projects. He frequently visited project locations, sharing pictures, videos and reports to showcase infrastructure and other initiatives linked to the Tinubu administration.
Some of the projects he featured included road construction works and other government-led development programmes across the country.
His activities had positioned him as one of the individuals using online platforms to promote awareness of federal government achievements.
However, efforts to get responses from the Kebbi State APC leadership and relevant federal government officials concerning Fakai’s allegations and reasons for withdrawing his support were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
The development comes as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with various stakeholders reassessing their alliances and positions within political parties.
