Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested five individuals in connection with armed robbery and “one‑chance” criminal activities, following a series of intelligence‑led operations carried out between November 22 and December 1, 2025.
The suspects — identified as 19‑year‑old Ikechukwu Patrick, 21‑year‑old Odoh David, 37‑year‑old Izuchukwu Ogbodo, 39‑year‑old Charles Ekenechukwu Egwuatu, and 37‑year‑old Justina Dike — were apprehended by the command’s Anti‑Cultism Tactical Squad, the force’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, announced.
Authorities recovered a number of incriminating items from the suspects, including an imitation gun, four stolen tricycles, a scissors blade, several master keys, and multiple SIM cards.
According to Ndukwe, Patrick and Odoh were first detained on November 22, with assistance from the Neighbourhood Watch Group. During their arrest, the imitation gun and scissors were discovered. They subsequently confessed to being members of the secretive criminal group Supreme Vikings Confraternity and revealed that the recovered items were meant for armed robbery.
The confessions led investigators to arrest Ogbodo, from whom they recovered six master keys and five MTN SIM cards — suspected tools for breaking into and stealing tricycles and other valuables. Further arrest of Dike and Egwuatu was made after Odoh admitted that, alongside them, he had participated in one‑chance operations and illicit trading in stolen tricycles and possibly hard drugs at New Garriki.
Of the four recovered tricycles, two bore visible registration numbers (JRV 461 WZ and ENU 018 VG), while the other two appeared defaced or unregistered. The suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court after investigations conclude.
In a statement, the state police chief, Mamman Giwa, praised the operatives for the successful arrests and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining public safety — especially with the end-of-year festive period approaching. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible information.
This latest crackdown comes amid intensified efforts by the Enugu State Police to dismantle criminal networks linked to armed robbery, cultism, and “one‑chance” syndicates. In recent months, the command has recorded several similar successes — part of a broader strategy to reduce robberies, kidnappings, and other violent crimes.
As investigations proceed, authorities warn that those involved in such illicit networks will be relentlessly pursued — and are urging the public to help by reporting suspicious activities, stolen tricycles, or individuals offering unusually cheap deals for such vehicles. The arrests send a clear message of zero tolerance for criminality in the state.
