The Coalition for Democracy and Development (CDD) has urged Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, and Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended Governor of Rivers State, to put aside their differences and sign a new peace pact within 90 days.

This call is aimed at resolving the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, which the CDD believes is a clear indication of leadership failure. The CDD condemned both Wike and Fubara, urging them to prioritize the welfare of the people amidst the crisis. Dr. George Ifure, Public Secretary of the CDD, emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution to the crisis, stating that Nigerians are ready to hold Wike and Fubara responsible if they fail to sign a peace pact within the stipulated time frame.

To resolve the crisis, the CDD also called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly to establish a committee comprising eminent Nigerians who can mediate and find a lasting solution. The group urged President Tinubu to make history with his handling of the Rivers State crisis, emphasizing the need for bold and visionary leadership.

The CDD’s call for a peace pact is seen as a crucial step towards restoring democratic governance in Rivers State. The group’s emphasis on prioritizing the welfare of the people and finding a peaceful resolution to the crisis is a welcome development in the midst of the ongoing political tensions.
