Osun APC Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plan to Cause Crisis at Local Councils

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concerns over what it described as an alleged plan to create tension and disrupt activities at local government councils across the state.

The allegation was made by the Osun APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, who reportedly called for adequate security protection for council officials amid the latest political developments in the state.

Lawal alleged that Governor Ademola Adeleke could be preparing to repeat what the party described as previous actions involving local government administration. The APC chairman expressed concern about the possibility of confrontation between rival political interests at the councils.

According to the party, the situation requires urgent attention from security agencies to prevent any escalation and ensure that local government activities continue peacefully.

The allegations come against the background of a prolonged political dispute over the administration and control of local government councils in Osun State. The issue has previously generated disagreements between the APC and Governor Adeleke’s administration.

The APC has accused the state government of attempting to interfere with local government structures, while the Adeleke administration has rejected such allegations and accused the opposition of being responsible for instability at the council level.

The latest statement by the APC chairman therefore adds another dimension to the ongoing political disagreement between the ruling administration in the state and the opposition party.

The party urged security agencies to remain vigilant and protect council officials and residents from any possible disruption.

The APC also called on political actors to avoid actions capable of increasing tension in the state, particularly following the recent governorship election.

The development comes shortly after Governor Adeleke secured another term in office, defeating the APC candidate in the August 2026 governorship election. Political tensions have remained high as the parties assess the outcome and prepare for future political contests.

The APC’s latest allegations have not been independently established, and the governor has not been found responsible for any planned violence. The claims remain part of the political dispute between the two sides.

The Adeleke administration has previously accused the APC of contributing to the local government crisis and argued that opposition actors had illegally occupied council offices.

The competing claims have continued to generate political debate over the proper administration of local governments in Osun State.

Security agencies are expected to monitor developments and take appropriate measures to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Political observers have also called for restraint from all parties, stressing the importance of dialogue and respect for democratic institutions in resolving disputes.

The latest development highlights the continuing political rivalry between the APC and Governor Adeleke’s administration, even after the conclusion of the governorship election.

As the new political administration takes shape, attention is expected to remain focused on the relationship between the state government, local government authorities and opposition parties.
