The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, has assured Nigerians that the ruling party will fulfil the promises it made to the electorate as it seeks the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Yari gave the assurance after arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja from an overseas trip. He was welcomed by APC supporters, associates and other well-wishers following his appointment as Director-General of the party’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
Speaking to journalists, Yari said the APC remained committed to keeping the promises it made to Nigerians during the 2023 presidential campaign.
He maintained that fulfilling campaign pledges would remain an important part of the party’s engagement with the electorate as preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum.
Yari also expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s chances of securing another term in office, saying he believed the President would remain in office after the 2027 election.
The former Zamfara State governor thanked the supporters who gathered to receive him and described their presence as a demonstration of their support for the President and the APC.
He called on party members and supporters to continue working for the success of the administration and the party ahead of the forthcoming election.
Yari also said the APC would pursue an issue-based campaign as it prepares to present its record and plans to Nigerians. He indicated that the campaign council would focus on communicating the party’s programmes and commitments to voters.
The APC recently constituted its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election, with Yari appointed Director-General and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma named Secretary. President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are serving as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively. Other prominent members of the ruling party have also been assigned responsibilities within the campaign structure as the APC begins preparations for a nationwide campaign.
Yari brings considerable political experience to the position, having previously served as governor of Zamfara State and as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum. His appointment is expected to play an important role in coordinating the party’s mobilisation efforts.
The campaign council will be responsible for coordinating activities across the country, engaging voters and communicating the administration’s policies and achievements ahead of the election.
The APC is expected to make the performance of the Tinubu administration a major component of its campaign as it seeks to retain the presidency.
However, the ruling party will face opposition from several political groups and candidates who are expected to present alternative policies and programmes to voters.
Yari’s assurance comes amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties beginning to strengthen their structures and mobilise supporters across the country.
As the campaign season approaches, the APC leadership is expected to focus on presenting its achievements, defending its record and persuading Nigerians to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
Yari reiterated that the party would honour the commitments it made to Nigerians and urged supporters to remain united as preparations for the election continue.
