A few days after Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, announced that he had joined the “Rainbow Coalition,” several of his loyalists have also aligned with the political movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Rainbow Coalition, founded by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, comprises influential members of various political parties in Rivers State, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), Action Alliance (AA), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Among the governor’s loyalists who have declared their support for the coalition are former Chief of Staff at the Government House, Hon. Edison Ehie; former Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Hon. Ezebunwo Ichemati; former Chairman of Omuma LGA, Hon. Promise Reginald; former Chairman of Emohua LGA, Hon. David Omereji; former factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo; and former Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo.
Speaking during a live radio programme monitored in Port Harcourt, Ihunwo confirmed the development, saying the decision by the governor’s loyalists was in line with Governor Fubara’s directive for them to support the Rainbow Coalition and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
LEADERSHIP gathered that, following Governor Fubara’s declaration, members of the Simplified Movement, his political support structure, have begun collapsing their various grassroots structures across several communities in Rivers State in solidarity with the coalition.
