The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said President Bola Tinubu is satisfied with the conduct of the party’s primary elections across the country.
Yilwatda disclosed this on Wednesday night while speaking with journalists after a meeting with the president in Lagos.
According to him, the ongoing APC primaries have demonstrated the party’s growing popularity and nationwide acceptance, as many aspirants are contesting for a limited number of elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He noted that the high level of participation reflects the confidence Nigerians have in the APC and its leadership.
“The large number of people seeking positions under our platform shows the strength and acceptance of the APC across communities in Nigeria. Many aspiring leaders now see the APC as their first choice,” he said.
The APC national chairman also commended party members and stakeholders for conducting themselves peacefully during the exercise, adding that the primaries were largely successful with minimal complaints recorded.
He further stated that President Tinubu was particularly impressed with the logistics and strategies deployed by the party in organising the primaries nationwide.
“The President was very impressed with the logistics we deployed across the country and the tactics we adopted.
“He is also pleased with the reduced number of incidents recorded during the exercise. He is happy with what we are doing,” Yilwatda stated.
The APC has commenced primary elections for various elective positions ahead of next year’s general elections.
