The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has extended the deadline for the purchase of nomination forms for the 2027 general elections by one week.
Initially scheduled to commence on May 10, the sale of nomination forms was postponed following delays by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in uploading the logo of the party’s authentic leadership led by Agbo Gilbert Major.
The development was disclosed on Monday in Lagos by the party’s Secretary-General, Ogini Olaposi. According to him, the extension followed a directive from the NNPP Board of Trustees to the National Working Committee, approved by the party’s founder, Boniface Aniebonam.
Mr. Olaposi announced that the new deadline for the collection and submission of nomination forms is now May 17.
He also outlined the fees for the nomination forms: presidential aspirants are to pay N5 million, governorship aspirants N2.5 million, senatorial aspirants N1.5 million, House of Representatives aspirants N1 million, while state assembly aspirants will pay N500,000.
He added that nomination forms would be free for women and persons living with disabilities. In addition, all elected party officials seeking re-election are guaranteed automatic tickets upon purchasing the forms.
“Our forms are free for all women and physically challenged persons, and all our elected officers seeking re-election are guaranteed automatic tickets after buying the forms,” he stated.
Mr. Olaposi further assured aspirants to remain calm despite the delay, expressing confidence that the issue with INEC would soon be resolved.
He also revealed that the Board of Trustees has directed members of the National Working Committee to intensify efforts toward ensuring the NNPP fields candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 general elections.
