Dino Melaye Insists ADC Convention Will Hold Despite Alleged Disruption Attempts

A member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Convention Planning Committee, Dino Melaye, has declared that no force can stop the party from holding its convention, stressing that all arrangements for the venue were legally secured and fully paid for.

Reports had earlier suggested that the ADC’s convention, scheduled for Tuesday, was under threat after the party was allegedly denied access to the venue.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Melaye disclosed that there were attempts to disrupt the event, including efforts to shut the venue gates and evict organisers. However, he said the committee firmly resisted the move, insisting on their contractual rights.

According to him, the party entered into a valid agreement with the facility’s owners and fulfilled all financial obligations, with receipts and signed documents to support the transaction.

Melaye reaffirmed the party’s determination to proceed with the convention, stating that nothing would prevent the exercise from taking place.

He also expressed confidence in the growing strength of the ADC and its readiness to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We were asked to leave and even faced attempts to shut the gates, but we stood our ground because we have a duly signed contract and have made full payment,” he said.

“We have receipts and all necessary documentation. At the end of the day, we are here, and the convention will hold. Nobody can stop us.”

Melaye added that the ADC remains resolute in its political ambition, insisting that the party is well-positioned to unseat the APC.
