Yakasai Urges Tinubu’s Appointees To Carry Nigerians Along In Governance

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Tanko Yakasai, has advised political appointees serving under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that Nigerians are adequately carried along in government policies and programmes.

Yakasai made the appeal while reacting to ongoing discussions about the performance of government officials and the expectations of citizens under the current administration. He emphasised that transparency, communication, and inclusiveness are essential for maintaining public trust in government.

According to him, many Nigerians are eager to understand the direction of the administration and the impact of its policies on their daily lives. He said political appointees must make deliberate efforts to engage citizens and clearly explain government decisions in order to avoid misunderstanding or misinformation.

Yakasai noted that governance involves not only implementing policies but also ensuring that the public understands the purpose and benefits of those policies. He stressed that when citizens are properly informed and involved, they are more likely to support government initiatives aimed at national development.

The APC chieftain further advised government officials to maintain regular interaction with the public and avoid becoming disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians. According to him, effective communication between leaders and the people helps build confidence in the administration and strengthens democratic governance.

He also encouraged appointees to remain focused on delivering results in their various positions, noting that the success of the administration will depend largely on the performance of those entrusted with key responsibilities.

Yakasai stressed that Nigerians expect visible improvements in areas such as the economy, security, infrastructure, and social welfare. He urged government officials to work diligently in order to meet these expectations and justify the confidence placed in them by the president and the ruling party.

While acknowledging the challenges currently facing the country, the APC leader expressed optimism that the administration can achieve its objectives if public officials remain committed to service and accountability.

He further called on appointees to avoid actions that could create unnecessary tension or division among citizens. According to him, the responsibility of leadership includes promoting unity and ensuring that policies benefit all segments of society.

Yakasai added that Nigeria’s democratic system thrives when leaders remain responsive to the needs and concerns of the people. He therefore urged political office holders to prioritise public interest and remain mindful of the responsibilities attached to their positions.

Political analysts say calls for greater engagement between government officials and citizens have become increasingly common as Nigerians seek clearer explanations regarding economic reforms and other policy changes introduced by the current administration.

Observers believe that improved communication and inclusive governance could help strengthen public confidence and foster greater cooperation between the government and the citizens it serves.

Yakasai concluded by reiterating that effective leadership requires not only policy implementation but also continuous dialogue with the people, adding that keeping Nigerians informed and involved remains essential for national progress.
