A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has pledged to deliver responsible leadership and sustain the culture of good governance if elected in the 2027 governorship election.

Ajadi made the statement during the sixth annual Ramadan lecture organised at Omituntun House in Ibadan. The event brought together political leaders, Islamic scholars, community figures, and residents who gathered for spiritual reflection and discussions on governance and unity.

While speaking with journalists at the event, the PDP chieftain stressed the importance of unity, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation among residents as the foundation for sustainable development in the state. He said progress in any society depends largely on the ability of its people to work together regardless of political or social differences.

Ajadi also used the opportunity to commend the current governor of the state, Seyi Makinde, for what he described as effective leadership and developmental initiatives across Oyo. According to him, Makinde’s governance style has set a standard that future administrations must build upon.

The aspirant explained that his political ambition is driven by the desire to sustain and improve on the achievements already recorded under the present administration. He said if given the opportunity to lead the state in 2027, he would focus on policies that promote economic growth, social development, and improved welfare for residents.

Ajadi further expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend the Ramadan gathering, describing it as a spiritually uplifting event that promotes moral values and social harmony within the community. He prayed for continued peace and good health for the organisers and participants of the programme.

The lecture itself featured discussions on the importance of human life and moral responsibility from an Islamic perspective. The guest lecturer, an Islamic scholar, emphasised compassion, discipline, and righteousness as key principles that should guide individuals and leaders in their daily activities.

During his remarks, Ajadi also encouraged members of the PDP in Oyo State to remain united and committed to the party’s ideals as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 elections. He expressed confidence that the party would remain strong and capable of maintaining its political influence in the state.

According to him, unity among party members and continued engagement with the grassroots will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of future elections.

Political activities in Oyo State have already begun to intensify as stakeholders and aspirants position themselves ahead of the 2027 governorship race. Governor Makinde, who is currently serving his second term, will complete his tenure in 2027, opening the field for new contenders seeking to lead the state.

Observers believe the coming months will witness increased consultations, alliances, and policy discussions among political actors as they prepare for the next electoral cycle.

Ajadi, however, reiterated that his primary focus remains on promoting unity, strengthening party structures, and encouraging policies that can improve the living conditions of the people of Oyo State.
