Nigeria’s leading shot put athlete, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, placed fifth at the Madrid leg of the World Athletics Indoor Tour after delivering a best throw of 20.38 metres in a tightly contested event.
The competition featured a strong lineup of international throwers, with several athletes surpassing the 21-metre mark to secure podium spots. Enekwechi remained competitive throughout but ultimately finished outside the top three.
American thrower Jordan Geist emerged winner with a top mark of 22.04m, while Jamaica’s Rajindra Campbell followed in second place after throwing 21.94m. Another American, Roger Steen, claimed third position with a distance of 21.88m.
Although he did not reach the podium, the outing is considered a steady start to Enekwechi’s indoor season. His performance in Madrid reflects his consistency on the international stage and forms part of his build-up toward major competitions later in the year.
The Madrid meet is one of the key stops on the World Indoor Tour calendar, attracting top athletes from across the globe and serving as an important platform for early-season form assessment.
