The Zamfara chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the Federal High Court in Abuja for upholding the party’s position on the office of the national secretary.
The acting state chairman of the party, Alhaji Hassan Daudawa, made the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Gusau.
Daudawa said the court judgment had encouraged party members at all levels and strengthened confidence in the PDP’s internal processes.
NAN reports that the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday dismissed a suit filed by Mr Samuel Anyanwu challenging the PDP national secretary position. Justice Mohammed Umar struck out the suit after counsel to the plaintiff informed the court that Anyanwu’s tenure expired in December 2025.
Those joined as defendants in the suit included the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Umar Damagum, Sunday Udeh-Okoye, Ali Odela and Setonji Koshoedo.
Reacting to the ruling, Daudawa said the development had reinforced the party’s internal administrative mechanisms and positioned it to sponsor candidates for the 2027 general elections.
“We rejoice because this judgment strengthens our internal administrative mechanisms and enables the party to sponsor candidates for the 2027 elections,” he said.
He added that all statutory organs of the party, including the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC), Board of Trustees and national delegates, remained valid and functional.
Daudawa congratulated the PDP national headquarters on the victory and reaffirmed the Zamfara chapter’s loyalty to the leadership of Kabiru Turaki, which he described as the authentic leadership of the party.
