Ex-Plateau Governor Says he Never Urged Mutfwang’s Exit

Former Plateau State Governor, Senator Jonah Jang, has dismissed reports suggesting he called on Governor Caleb Mutfwang to resign following his defection from the PDP to the APC.

In a statement released on Monday in Jos, Jang clarified that he never made such a statement. “At no point did I ask Governor Mutfwang to step down. Such reports are misleading and do not reflect my views,” he said. His media team explained that comments attributed to him during recent political meetings had been taken out of context.

The clarification comes amid heightened political discussions in Plateau State, where Mutfwang’s defection has attracted attention from both party loyalists and political observers. The ex-governor’s office urged the public and media to exercise caution and verify facts before sharing information.

Jang emphasized that Governor Mutfwang remains the duly elected leader of Plateau State and should be respected regardless of party affiliation. He called for calm and responsible reporting as the state continues to navigate its evolving political landscape.
