FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has announced plans to provide additional housing for Abuja judges, reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening the judiciary and improving its efficiency.
Speaking on Monday at a special court session to mark the commencement of the Court of Appeal’s 2025/2026 legal year in Abuja, Mr. Wike revealed that budgetary allocations have already been made for the construction of more residential quarters for FCT High Court judges. The goal, he said, is to address accommodation shortages and ensure that all judicial officers are suitably housed.
He emphasized that modern court facilities, well-equipped chambers, and adequate support infrastructure are essential for a judiciary that operates professionally and safely.
“Under the president’s decisive action, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has formally handed over the certificate of occupancy for the Supreme Court’s land. We have also begun the full perimeter fencing of the entire complex to prevent encroachment and strengthen the security of our nation’s apex court,” Mr. Wike stated.
He added that this timely intervention restores confidence in the Supreme Court—something neglected by previous administrations.
According to the minister, these confidence-building measures extend to every arm of the judiciary, ensuring that judicial officers at all levels feel supported and better empowered to discharge their duties.
