Mohamed Salah has expressed serious doubts about his Liverpool future after being left on the bench for the third consecutive game during Liverpool’s 3-3 draw at Leeds United. In an explosive post-match interview, the Egyptian forward made several shocking statements that have sent shockwaves through the football world.
Salah claimed “the club has thrown me under the bus” and suggested his relationship with manager Arne Slot has completely broken down. The 33-year-old expressed disbelief at being an unused substitute for three matches running, stating this was “the first time in my career” he had experienced such treatment.
The Liverpool star revealed frustration about broken promises, noting he received assurances over the summer but has instead found himself sidelined. Most alarmingly, Salah suggested that “someone doesn’t want me in the club” and indicated that next Saturday’s match against Brighton could potentially be his final appearance for Liverpool before departing for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah is scheduled to join Egypt for AFCON on December 15, with the Brighton match his last opportunity to play for Liverpool before the tournament. Given the timing and his comments, there’s speculation about whether he’ll return to Anfield after the competition, with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal having previously offered him a lucrative contract worth approximately $32.5 million annually.
The situation adds another layer of uncertainty to Salah’s future, as his contract expires at the end of this season and he’s been able to negotiate with foreign clubs since January 1st.
