Brazilian football icon Pelé’s brand has officially moved into the hands of another star from the same nation, Neymar Santos Jr., following an announcement by Neymar’s father on Tuesday. The reveal took place at the Pelé Museum in Santos — the city forever linked with the legendary player’s rise to global fame.
Neymar Santos Sr., who runs NR Sports, confirmed that the company has now taken control of Pelé’s commercial rights. Though the financial details remain sealed under a confidentiality agreement with the former rights holder, US-based Sport 10, local reports suggest the purchase was valued at around $18 million.
Pelé, born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, is celebrated worldwide as one of football’s greatest figures, having guided Brazil to triumph in the 1958, 1962, and 1970 World Cups. Even after his passing in December 2022, his legacy continues to resonate deeply in Brazil and beyond. His daughter, Flavia, attended the handover ceremony, expressing her deep emotion and pride at the moment.
In its announcement, NR Sports framed the acquisition as a homecoming — a move to restore and strengthen one of the most powerful symbols in global sports history. According to the company, this marks a significant effort to protect and elevate the enduring legacy of the man known universally as the King of Football.
