Mrs. Lilian Adebayo, wife of the former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has reaffirmed her husband’s unwavering commitment to the party, dismissing rumours that he intends to defect.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Mrs. Adebayo said her husband had been a dedicated member of the SDP since the age of 19 and had never considered leaving the party.

She lauded the party’s internal conflict-resolution mechanisms, expressing confidence that the SDP remained united and ready to compete strongly in future elections.

Addressing her husband’s political future, Mrs. Adebayo said she was confident that he had the capacity to secure the SDP’s presidential ticket and win the 2027 general election.

She also criticised the current administration, urging Nigerians to vote for a leader capable of steering the nation toward progress and stability.

Advocating for greater inclusion of women in leadership, Mrs. Adebayo highlighted the compassion and emotional intelligence women bring to governance. She pledged her support for female political aspirants and refuted claims that women fail to support one another in politics.

“Women will stand together if given the opportunity without interference from men,” she said.

Expressing strong faith in her husband’s leadership qualities, Mrs. Adebayo maintained that Prince Adewole Adebayo could defeat a sitting president if Nigerians voted honestly and prioritized competence over sentiment.

She emphasised the importance of truthfulness and integrity in the 2027 elections, describing her husband as a man of vision and integrity who could bring positive change to Nigeria.
