Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has approved Assistant Inspector-General Nkechi Eze as the inaugural director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.

The appointment follows the upgrade of the Police Force Medical Section to a full-fledged directorate, aimed at improving healthcare services for police personnel nationwide, according to Force Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin.

Egbetokun congratulated Eze, urging her to leverage her medical expertise and administrative experience to set a benchmark in police healthcare delivery. Hundeyin described Eze as “a distinguished clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator with over 27 years of exemplary service.”

Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and from Agbudu, Enugu State, Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Benin. Her career includes postings in Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she contributed to advancing police healthcare and officers’ welfare.

Egbetokun emphasized that the creation of the directorate is a strategic investment in the well-being and operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.
