Governor Alex Otti Debunks Defection Rumours, Reaffirms Loyalty to Labour Party

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has dismissed recent reports alleging that he has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The rumours began after some individuals from Abia State circulated a photo of Governor Otti visiting his Enugu State counterpart, Peter Mbah, a few days before Mbah’s defection to the APC. The individuals claimed the visit was part of Otti’s supposed plan to join the ruling party.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, Governor Otti described the reports as baseless fabrications by political propagandists.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the Labour Party, the platform under which he was overwhelmingly elected by the people of Abia State.

“Governor Alex Otti remains a committed and proud member of the Labour Party,” the statement read. “His focus remains unshaken — to rebuild Abia, restore accountability, and deliver the dividends of democracy to every citizen of the state.”

The governor urged members of the public to disregard the false reports, describing them as cheap political propaganda aimed at distracting his administration from its developmental goals.
