As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has called on citizens to honour the sacrifices of the nation’s founding heroes, embrace present opportunities, and work collectively toward building a united and prosperous Nigeria.

In her Independence message, Senator Akpoti praised the resilience of Nigerians, describing their spirit as “unbreakable” despite decades of challenges. She emphasized that Independence Day is more than a historical milestone—it is a reminder of the courage and vision of those who fought for freedom, justice, and unity.

She acknowledged the nation’s current economic and social hurdles, including insecurity and inequality, while commending the achievements of young Nigerians across entrepreneurship, agriculture, and the arts who continue to shape the country’s global presence.

“The Nigeria our heroes envisioned is not one divided by ethnicity, religion, or politics, but one united by shared values of justice, equity, and prosperity,” she said, urging leaders and citizens alike to strengthen national unity through service, integrity, and accountability.

Senator Akpoti concluded by calling on Nigerians to “celebrate how far we’ve come, while marching with hope toward the brighter future we can build together.”
