Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has ordered the closure of unauthorised trailer parks located in Zariagi (Lokoja) and Osara (Adavi LGA) due to emerging security concerns in the areas.

Speaking during an event held in Lokoja on Tuesday, Governor Ododo revealed that intelligence reports have identified the trailer parks as hideouts for criminal elements disguised as truck drivers. He stressed that the safety and security of Kogi residents remain a top priority for his administration.

“The decision to shut down these parks is a proactive measure to curb criminal activities and safeguard lives and property,” Ododo stated.

The governor has granted trailer operators a one-month grace period to vacate the parks and any other unauthorised locations, especially during restricted hours. He also directed security agencies to enforce the closure order and ensure that no criminal group finds sanctuary within the state.

Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life for all citizens, saying:

“Together, we will build a Kogi where good health is a right, not a privilege; where security is guaranteed, and where every resident has a fair chance to live, work, and prosper.”

The order forms part of broader efforts to strengthen internal security and restore public confidence across the state.
