Cybersecurity advocate Ugochukwu Njubigbo is in the running for the Community Leadership and Empowerment Award at the 2025 Black History Month Gala Awards, a recognition that celebrates his outstanding efforts in driving change and strengthening the Black healthcare community.
The awards ceremony, a flagship celebration of Black achievement in healthcare, is scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Concorde Conference Centre, The Runway Visitor Park, Altrincham. Guests will enjoy a packed programme featuring live entertainment, a showcase of emerging talent, networking opportunities, community recognition awards, and a formal dinner.
Njubigbo’s nomination reflects his commitment not only to cybersecurity but also to education and mentorship. In his role on the industry advisory board at the University of Bolton (now the University of Greater Manchester), he provides expert input on course content, ensuring that academic programmes align with real-world industry needs. His efforts are helping to close the gap between classroom learning and the demands of a fast-changing job market.
This is not his first recognition in 2025. Earlier in the year, he received a nomination at the Cyber Associate Network Awards within NHS England, which highlighted his role in safeguarding sensitive information across healthcare systems.
According to the Gala organisers, Njubigbo’s journey reflects the very ideals the awards stand for: leadership, empowerment, innovation, and advocacy. Beyond his technical expertise, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to inspiring others, especially by connecting cybersecurity innovation with the broader goal of transforming healthcare.
Nominees are also encouraged to share their achievements through media toolkits prepared by organisers. These include social media frames, pre-drafted announcements, and official event flyers. In past editions, organisations have shown their support by booking tables for the ceremony, and this year’s turnout is expected to be equally strong.
