Former Senator representing Zamfara Central, Kabiru Garba Marafa, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lose over one million votes in the 2027 general elections due to his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This declaration was made in a statement signed by Alhaji Surajo Garba Maikatako, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Senator Marafa Group and Political Leader of the Senator Marafa Support Group, and made available to journalists in Gusau on Friday.
Maikatako emphasized that Marafa’s resignation from the ruling APC has galvanized his political base, triggering widespread support from loyalists across the country.
“I can confidently say that the resignation of Senator Marafa from the APC has reinvigorated his political base. Supporters nationwide have expressed their solidarity and readiness to move with Senator Marafa to the next level of political engagement,” he stated.
He quoted Marafa as saying:
“By the special grace of Almighty Allah, we will deduct not less than one million votes from the President’s tally in the next general election. This is not an empty boast. It is a strategic move backed by a committed, disciplined, and determined political structure. Time will prove us right.”
Maikatako further said the groundswell of support is evidence of Marafa’s enduring popularity, credibility, and the trust he commands, particularly among grassroots supporters and key political figures.
According to him, the decision to dump the APC was a collective one, made in consultation with Marafa’s loyal base. He said the senator could no longer remain in a party that failed to deliver on key campaign promises, particularly in tackling insecurity in Zamfara State.
“It is worth remembering that Senator Marafa served as the State Campaign Coordinator for President Tinubu during the 2023 general elections and played a pivotal role in delivering Zamfara. Unfortunately, the President failed to reciprocate that loyalty with tangible actions.”
He added that plans are underway to launch what he described as one of the most historic presidential campaigns in Nigerian democratic history.
“The political revolution has just begun. We invite all well-meaning Nigerians to join us in reclaiming our democracy and restoring integrity to leadership,” Maikatako concluded.
