President Bola Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive review of military operations across the country following a deadly terrorist attack in Borno State.

The directive includes deploying advanced military hardware and surveillance equipment to eliminate terrorist groups operating in various regions.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, in a statement issued by his spokesperson Stanley Nkwocha, conveyed deep condolences to the government and people of Borno State after the recent Boko Haram attack on Darajamal community in Bama Local Government Area, which claimed numerous lives.

Reiterating President Tinubu’s instructions, Shettima emphasized the need for the military to adopt enhanced strategies and utilize modern technology in the ongoing fight against insurgency.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum had on Saturday visited Darajamal to sympathize with families of the victims, which included both civilians and soldiers killed in the Friday night ambush.

In his condolence message, Vice President Shettima described the massacre as a devastating loss to the state and the nation at large.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Zulum, the people of Borno, and the Nigerian military. These tragic deaths have plunged the nation into mourning, but we remain confident that justice will be served,” he said.

Shettima also expressed confidence in the capacity of the Nigerian Armed Forces to overcome security challenges, citing President Tinubu’s approval for the acquisition of additional drones and a strategic review of military operations.

Furthermore, he noted that the Federal Government is actively considering the establishment of state police, in line with Tinubu’s belief that some security challenges require localized solutions tailored to the terrain and cultural dynamics of affected areas.

He assured continued Federal Government support to the Borno State Government and affected communities, and offered prayers for the families of the deceased.
