Amid opposition criticism, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for stabilising Nigeria’s economy, restoring investor confidence, and positioning the nation for stronger global partnerships.
The governor highlighted the positive outcomes of President Tinubu’s recent official visit to Brazil. Sani, who was part of the presidential entourage, said the trip underscored the growing international recognition of Nigeria’s economic potential.
“When President Tinubu assumed office, many foreign investors were reluctant to bring their capital into Nigeria. However, the reforms he introduced have opened new opportunities not just for Nigerian entrepreneurs but also for global investors seeking to do business here,” he noted.
According to him, Tinubu’s decision to clear the $7 billion foreign exchange backlog was a turning point that reassured the global business community of Nigeria’s financial credibility. “That single step has significantly boosted investor confidence, and we are now seeing increased interest in Nigeria,” he explained.
Governor Sani also stressed the strategic importance of the Brazil visit, saying discussions with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva focused on agriculture, renewable energy, skills development, and aviation investment. “I am pleased that President Tinubu has built a strong relationship with President Lula da Silva one founded on mutual respect and shared opportunities that will soon yield tangible results,” he added.
On the domestic front, Sani highlighted Kaduna State’s commitment to agricultural and livestock development. He revealed that his administration had raised the state’s agriculture budget from 0.9 per cent to 12 per cent in line with the Malabo Declaration. “Our goal is to transform agriculture to create jobs, reduce poverty, and boost productivity,” the governor said.
He further expressed confidence that Tinubu’s economic reforms, reinforced by strategic international partnerships, will drive Nigeria’s growth across key sectors.
