JMG Limited has taken a bold step toward sustainability with the deployment of a 129-kilowatt hybrid solar power system at its Lagos head office. The initiative, which integrates premium solar technology from Longi and Deye, not only strengthens the company’s transition to renewable energy but is also generating significant cost savings cutting diesel expenses by almost ₦40 million annually.
In a statement released by the company, the installation was described as a milestone project, combining advanced Longi 575W solar panels, Deye’s high-efficiency hybrid inverters, and 122.9 kWh of DEYE high-voltage lithium-ion battery storage. The project was designed, engineered, and managed entirely by JMG’s in-house solar division, reflecting the company’s growing expertise in renewable energy solutions.
The system is capable of delivering 15.48 megawatt-hours of clean electricity every month, covering approximately 90 percent of the building’s total energy demand. With this capacity, JMG’s head office has significantly reduced its dependence on diesel generators. According to the company, the hybrid solar solution is saving more than 34,800 litres of diesel annually, translating into nearly ₦40 million in cost reductions.
Beyond financial savings, the environmental impact is equally noteworthy. The system is projected to cut over 71 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year. This underscores JMG’s commitment not only to cost efficiency but also to advancing cleaner, more sustainable energy practices in Nigeria’s corporate landscape.
Speaking on the achievement, Head of JMG’s Solar Division, Hussein Abbas, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond advocacy for renewable energy it is a practical demonstration of its viability. “Our head office now leads by example, proving that smart, scalable solar solutions are ready for today’s commercial challenges,” he said. Abbas added that the hybrid system underscores the company’s strategy of providing sustainable solutions that reduce operational costs while promoting environmental responsibility.
The solar system is equipped with a smart monitoring interface, which enables real-time tracking of energy production and consumption. Additionally, it features dual rooftop and carport mounting, maximizing space efficiency and ensuring the optimal deployment of solar technology within the company’s facilities.
Abbas noted that this development signals a pivotal step in JMG’s journey toward a greener corporate future. By successfully implementing such a system in its own operations, the company hopes to inspire other organizations to embrace renewable energy as a practical and profitable solution to Nigeria’s energy challenges.
The adoption of renewable energy by JMG aligns with broader global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and transition to sustainable energy sources. In a country where businesses often rely heavily on diesel generators due to inconsistent grid supply, the company’s decision highlights the growing role of solar power in bridging energy gaps while lowering costs.
JMG’s investment in hybrid solar technology not only positions it as a leader in renewable energy adoption but also demonstrates the potential of clean energy solutions to transform Nigeria’s corporate energy landscape. With significant savings, reduced emissions, and improved efficiency, the project stands as a model for companies seeking sustainable alternatives in their operations.
