President Bola Tinubu has nominated Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
The announcement was made on Thursday in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Ramat, 39, is an electrical engineer with a PhD in Strategic Management. In addition to his nomination, Abubakar Yusufwas proposed as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, while Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun was named Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.
“To avoid a leadership vacuum, the President has directed Engr. Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity pending Senate confirmation,” the statement added.
President Tinubu urged the appointees to apply their expertise to support the administration’s goals for the power sector.
All nominations are subject to approval by the Senate.
