Heirs Technologies has celebrated the graduation of the latest cohort from its i-Academy
Supplementary Technical Engineering Programme. The ceremony took place at the Heirs
Technologies training facility in Lagos, marking a significant milestone for the 100 emerging
tech professionals who completed the intensive programme.
Launched in 2023, the i-Academy programme is a three-month, hands-on training initiative
designed to equip young talents with practical, job-ready skills in high-demand areas such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, and software development. The programme reflects Heirs Technologies’ commitment to nurturing a new generation of tech experts ready to drive innovation across Africa.
During the graduation ceremony, the Managing Director of Heirs Technologies, Obong
Idiong, congratulated the graduates and praised their resilience, hard work, and commitment to growth. He described them as the future leaders of Africa’s technology space, emphasizing the academy’s role in preparing them to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
The i-Academy initiative is part of Heirs Technologies’ broader mission to build local capacity and bridge the digital skills gap, ensuring that young Nigerians are not only employable but also capable of creating solutions that contribute to national and continental development.
“We take great pride in our graduates. They are the future of Africa’s technology landscape
skilled, passionate, and ready to drive meaningful change,” said Obong Idiong, Managing
Director of Heirs Technologies.
“At Heirs Technologies, we’re not just growing a company we’re empowering individuals who will shape the continent’s future. With over 100 trainees now graduated, we look forward to the remarkable contributions they’ll make in the tech space,” he added.
Vice President of i-Academy, Ivy Ikpeme-Mbakwem, also addressed the graduates,
emphasizing the vast opportunities available in the fields of cybersecurity and cloud
computing. She urged them to stay focused, disciplined, and committed as they progress in their professional journeys.
As part of their final evaluations, trainees at Heirs Technologies’ i-Academy participated in
intensive, hands-on sessions led by experienced in-house professionals. The cloud
computing track covered essential skills, including deploying applications in cloud
environments, implementing identity and access management protocols, managing
infrastructure and user access, designing enterprise landing zones, and simulating real-
world threat detection and response scenarios.
Meanwhile, participants in the cybersecurity cohort focused on key areas such as network
security, threat detection, identity and access management, vulnerability assessment, and
incident response. These practical modules ensured that graduates were not only technically equipped but also industry-ready.
Looking ahead, Heirs Technologies revealed plans to broaden the i-Academy curriculum by
introducing specialized learning paths in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and technical support. This expansion is part of the company’s broader mission to strengthen human
capital development and promote inclusive innovation across Africa.
“This is just the beginning,” said Ivy Ikpeme-Mbakwem, Vice President of i-Academy. “We
are laying the groundwork for a digitally empowered Africa, where young professionals are
equipped with the skills and knowledge to drive transformation across industries.”
Through i-Academy, Heirs Technologies continues to shape the next generation of tech
talent, fostering long-term impact on the continent’s digital future.
