In a move highlighting their mutual dedication to youth engagement, gender equality, and grassroots athletic growth, adidas, in partnership with LATC, has distributed 200 branded footballs to secondary schools throughout Lagos State.

This contribution, carried out in collaboration with the Lagos State Sports Commission, is set to benefit 20 schools. The footballs will be fairly divided between boys’ and girls’ teams, reinforcing the message that school sports should be inclusive and accessible to all, regardless of gender.

To commemorate the gesture, Dave Thomas, the CEO of adidas Global Emerging Markets, handed over a symbolic football to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during a formal courtesy call.

“Sport has the power to shape the future,” an adidas spokesperson said.

The initiative, adidas noted, extends beyond supplying sporting gear—it represents a commitment to nurturing the aspirations, wellness, and leadership potential of young people across Lagos.

“This donation is more than just equipment; it is an investment in the dreams, health, and leadership potential of young boys and girls across Lagos. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to play, grow, and thrive.”

LATC, the brand’s Nigerian franchisee, explained that the project is part of a broader mission to develop well-rounded students—not just intellectually, but also through physical, emotional, and social growth that sport uniquely encourages.

“School sports is a powerful tool for a complete education,” Chief Strategy Officer at LATC, Kingsley Oko, said.

“This donation supports children not only to become better athletes, but more confident, healthier, and focused individuals.”

The Lagos State Sports Commission praised the initiative, affirming that it advances grassroots athletic development and further promotes equal opportunities for boys and girls in school sports programmes.
