Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Nigerian international goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie on a free deal from Paris FC.
The 24-year-old will officially join the Women’s Super League side once her contract in France expires on July 1.
The Super Falcons’ trusted number one, often celebrated as Africa’s top goalkeeper, now makes the jump to English football after an impressive four-year spell in France’s Division 1 Féminine.
Nnadozie has featured 55 times for Nigeria since making her senior debut in 2018, bringing with her a wealth of international and European club experience.
Between 2022 and 2025, she appeared in 16 UEFA Women’s Champions League matches for Paris FC.
The multiple-time CAF Best Goalkeeper award winner couldn’t hide her joy at joining Brighton, saying:
“It feels so great I am really excited to be joining this great club.
Right from the beginning when I heard the name of the club, I was so interested and I’m happy to be here.”
Brighton’s head coach, Dario Vidosic, hailed the move, pointing to her leadership and reliability in goal.
“She’s a talented and commanding goalkeeper who will bring consistency and confidence to our defensive line,” Vidosic noted.
“We’re confident she’ll add both depth and drive to a squad already full of ambition as we continue to build for next season.”
After joining Paris FC from Nigerian club Rivers Angels in January 2020, Nnadozie went on to make 118 appearances for the French outfit, establishing herself among the league’s most consistent and standout performers.
One of her most memorable displays came during the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine final, where she saved two penalties against Paris Saint-Germain, guiding her side to cup glory and showcasing her nerves of steel in high-pressure moments.
Her brilliant performances in 2024 earned her the historic honour of being the first African to claim the D1 Arkema Goalkeeper of the Year title, highlighting her pivotal role in Paris FC’s domestic and continental success.
On the international scene, she has equally impressed, starring in both the 2019 and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cups.
Her crucial penalty save against Canada in 2023 brought her global attention and reinforced her status among the game’s elite.
Before her European breakthrough, Nnadozie played a key role in Rivers Angels’ dominance in Nigerian women’s football, helping the team lift the 2019/2020 NWPL title and multiple domestic trophies.
She first came into the spotlight at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and rapidly became Nigeria’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, playing a vital role in the Super Falcons’ continued success on the continent.
Brighton’s signing of Nnadozie marks a major win for the club, as they seek to boost their squad strength ahead of the new WSL season.
Her immediate priority remains international duty, as she aims to help Nigeria claim a record 10th WAFCON crown, before turning her attention to the English top flight.
