The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old suspected armed robber, Zephaniah Alfred, who had been on the police watchlist for his alleged involvement in a series of violent crimes along the Numan–Gombe Road and its surrounding areas.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the arrest followed a report filed by one Ibrahim Maikano, who alleged that the suspect had issued death threats against him.
“Based on the complaint, officers from the Numan Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly moved into action and apprehended the suspect,” Nguroje stated.
The police spokesperson revealed that Alfred had been a long-time target of the Command due to his suspected role in numerous armed robbery operations that had plagued the area.
Furthermore, Following the arrest, a search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence, leading to the discovery of several illegal and suspicious items.
Recovered materials include: One (1) locally made pistol, Two (2) live AK-47 rounds, One (1) live pistol round,One (1) live cartridge, One (1) military camouflage uniform,Four (4) military camouflage caps,Two (2) military camouflage T-shirts,One (1) black torchlight.
Nguroje confirmed that all recovered items are now being treated as exhibits. The investigation is ongoing and the suspect is currently in custody.The Command assured the public of its commitment to combating criminal elements and restoring safety across the state.
