Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has raised concerns about threats to his life, which he claims are being made by unnamed individuals. The revelation came via a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he assured fans that they have nothing to fear, stating that he has already recorded three albums to preserve his legacy in the event of his death.
The alarming statement was made in response to a fan who expressed worry after Blaq suggested he wouldn’t be in the music industry for the next 15 years, despite being just 29 years old. The fan, using the handle @LfCPraise, wrote: “I no understand, no kpai o. Abeg.”
Blaq responded: “Them say them go kill me, but I don record enough for 3 more albums. No fear, because rap actually hard for some people.”
The rapper’s comments came amid a heated and escalating feud with fellow rapper Odumodublvck. The tension between the two intensified on Sunday after both artists exchanged direct verbal shots.
The conflict began when Blaq threw a jab at Odumodublvck in his new track with A-Q titled “Who’s Really Rapping.”Initially limited to subtle digs on social media, the feud escalated when Odumodublvck responded to Blaq’s claim that rap is difficult for some artists.
Odumodublvck fired back, saying, “If rap hard for me, your last hit no go dey with me. I’m everything you want to be, ngga. Your spirit is weak.”*
Blaqbonez, in turn, challenged Odumodublvck to respond with music, not tweets:
“Enter studio and get TF out my mentions. This no be Twitter warfare. And stop calling the whole industry crying about me. No be so Kendrick Lamar dey do. Hip-hop legacy.”
Odumodublvck then declared that the matter had gone beyond music, suggesting the conflict could take a more personal or even physical turn.
He wrote: “You want to make it about studio. Na lie. We go meet again for street. You know the level. This is not a rap beef. Na me and you for this world.”
The situation has sparked concern among fans and observers of Nigeria’s hip-hop scene, raising questions about the boundaries of rap beef and personal safety within the industry.
