Reality TV star and influencer Tacha has reacted emotionally to the mass killings in Benue State, where over 200 people reportedly lost their lives.
In a video shared from a hospital bed, Tacha broke down in tears, expressing her pain and anger over the government’s delayed response and lack of empathy.
“I woke up this morning asking, where did I go wrong being a Nigerian? Where did we go wrong being Nigerians? Did we choose this country?” she said tearfully.
Tacha compared the situation to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, noting that even in active war zones, mass killings of this scale are rare.
“What crime have Nigerians committed that over 200 people can go to bed and not wake up? Israel and Iran are at war, and not even 200 people have died like this,” she said. “But in Nigeria, your tomorrow is not guaranteed. And we still have to beg the government to even acknowledge it.”
She criticized the Nigerian government for staying silent, pointing out that it took a statement from the Pope thousands of miles away for Nigerians to hear words of sympathy.
“It had to take a Pope from miles away to address us before our own leaders did,” she said. “Where did we go wrong voting this government into power?”
Tacha ended her message by questioning the humanity of the country’s leaders.
“How is human life not important to you? And you have children? And you have families?”
Her video has added to the growing outrage from Nigerians demanding accountability and compassion from those in power.
