The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that a stun gun was recovered from Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church following his voluntary visit for questioning over a viral video showing him in a roadside confrontation.

Adefarasin came under public scrutiny after a video surfaced online showing him holding what appeared to be a firearm during a dispute with another road user in Lagos. The footage quickly sparked public concern and calls for police action.

In response, Adefarasin presented himself at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday, June 17. According to the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, he was interrogated and released on bail pending further investigation.

“Pastor Paul Adefarasin, who turned himself in today at the Lagos State Police Command over a viral video where he was seen holding a gun-like object, was interrogated and gave a cautionary statement,” Hundeyin said in a statement posted on the police’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Hundeyin clarified that the item recovered was not a firearm but a stun gun.

“What was recovered from him is not a lethal weapon or firearm but a stun gun, which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment,” he added.

Stun guns are considered restricted security tools under Nigerian law, and their possession is regulated.

Pastor Adefarasin or his representatives have not yet issued a statement regarding the incident. The case has sparked public debate about the use of non-lethal weapons and the conduct expected from public figures in such situations.
