The Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, has resigned from his position. His resignation was announced in a statement by the Chief of Staff to the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas. The statement appreciated Nwaeke’s contributions to the administration during his short tenure and wished him well in his future endeavors.
The statement reads, “The office of His Excellency, the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (retd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, is saddened to announce the resignation of the Head of Service, Rivers State, Dr. George Nwaeke, FCA, Mni.
“His Excellency, the Administrator appreciates the immense contributions he has shown this administration in the short period he served and wishes him well in his future endeavors.”
In a related development, Ibas has appointed Professor Ibibi Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG). Worika’s appointment follows a rigorous selection process, and his extensive experience in academia, international legal practice, and policy advisory roles makes him uniquely qualified for the position.
Worika’s distinguished career spans multiple fields, including environmental and petroleum law. He holds a Ph.D. in International Environmental and Comparative Petroleum Law & Policy from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom.
As the new SSG, Worika is expected to support the administrator in achieving the mandate set by President Bola Tinubu for the state. His appointment takes immediate effect, and he is tasked with driving the administration’s agenda and promoting peace, stability, and security in Rivers State.
