The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday ruled in favor of Senator Samuel Anyanwu, reinstating him as the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a unanimous judgment delivered by a five-member panel, the Court stated that matters regarding the leadership or membership of a political party fall under its internal affairs and should not be subject to judicial intervention.

The Court also overturned the December 20, 2024 ruling of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, which had upheld the decision of the Federal High Court in Enugu that removed Anyanwu from his position. The Supreme Court further declared that the Federal High Court had no jurisdiction to hear the case filed by Aniagwu Emmanuel.
