Ibas Takes Charge as Rivers Sole Administrator

The newly appointed Sole Administrator for Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas (retd.), has arrived in the state to officially assume duties.

Ibas landed at the Port Harcourt International Airport at approximately 11:25 a.m. on Thursday, where he was received by top government officials and security personnel. Among those present were the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 16.

Following his arrival, Ibas proceeded directly to the Government House in Port Harcourt, where he was given a brief tour of the facility by government officials. Shortly after, he entered a closed-door meeting with senior security officers, a Federal Government delegation, and key state government officials.

Ibas’ appointment as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State was formalized on Wednesday when he was sworn in by President Bola Tinubu. His arrival marks the beginning of his tenure, during which he is expected to oversee governance and security matters in the state.

More details on his agenda and policy direction are expected to emerge following his ongoing consultations with relevant stakeholders.
